Trailhead Capital is a venture capital fund based in Boulder, CO and focused on supporting innovation in regenerative agriculture, which uses traditional farming and grazing practices to reverse climate change by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity, resulting in both carbon drawdown and improving the water cycle. Founded in 2017, Trailhead is building a portfolio of investments including consumer food products that contain ingredients regeneratively sourced from farming operations and targeting Seed and Series A stage investments into companies in the U.S., Canada, Israel and Australia.
Challenges
While most everyone understands farming, regenerative agriculture is far from a household term, despite being widely used in the industry. Trailhead Capital is one of the preeminent investment funds in its vertical but has traditionally struggled to connect with investors who don’t yet understand the connection between the food we eat and the health of the planet. In order to grow its Assets Under Management (AUM) and expand its portfolio of startup companies, the fund needed to improve its messaging and start communicating its value prop to the investor community at large.

When the fund first reached out to Layup Content, it was running a very bare bones communications effort. The Trailhead Capital team is fairly small and 100% focused on raising investment for its funds and portfolio companies, leaving little time for content marketing and messaging.
